During the 1920's Louis influenced basically everyone who listened to jazz, and even some people that normally didn't. In 1918, he replaced the cornet player in Kid Ory's band, one of the most famous bands in New Orleans at the time. In 1919, he played on riverboats with a band led by Fate Marable. In 1922, the cornet player he had replaced invited him to Chicago to play in Lincoln Gardens with his popular Creole Jazz Band. In 1925, Armstrong began making his own music under his own name.
